Discipleship
ALL STUDENTS WILL BE DISCIPLED IN SOME
FORM
EVERYONE CAN BE DISCIPLED ON THEIR LEVEL
Stage 1- Visitors and Newer students
(No Prerequisite)
-Have a leader pull kids aside (into children’s room) and
teach 5-10 min lesson. This will be on a 4 subject rotation.
It will be done every week. This way, if a kid misses a
class, he can pick it up the very next month. The classes
will be as follows:
1. WHY DO WE PRAY?
2. WHY DO WE READ THE BIBLE?
3. WHY DO WE WORSHIP
4. WHY DO WE NEED TO BE SAVED?
Stage 2- “FIRE TRAINING” For teens to
learn to function together in a small group setting, and
learn the basics of Christianity (Prerequisite- gone through
stage 1) -8 weeks
on, 2 weeks off (10 week rotation). This will be a small
group setting with the emphasis on fellowship with some
bible study and discussion. Preferably, there will be more
discussion than bible study.
-This will most likely happen on
Tuesday night from 7-8:30. We can use books, or videos to
spark learning and discussion.
Stage 3- “ADVANCED FIRE TRAINING” For
teens to come into a deeper understanding of the things of
God, to learn spiritual discipline, and to learn the
beginning stages of leadership. (Prerequisite- gone through
stages 1 and 2)
-This is a 6 week program. It will be more of a classroom
setting than stage 2. There will be lots of discussion, and
lots of teaching/bible study. This program will teach teens
to think for themselves and work through the Bible and
prayer for themselves. There will be a shift in emphasis
from fellowship and fun (stage 2) to discipline and study.
-We will most likely do
this program on Sunday nights from 5-6pm. This program will
use the Firestorm Discipleship program developed by Pastor
Doug. -Teens at
this level can attend in-country missions trips.
Stage 4- “FIRE TEAM” For teens ready
to step into a servant-leadership role. (Prerequisite- gone
through stages 1, 2, and 3 successfully, complete an
interview process)
-This program will be a year long commitment.
- It will involve servant leadership including setting up
and tearing down for services and events
- It will involve mentoring younger youth group members
- It will involve some menial servanthood evangelism (ex:
washing cars, shoveling snow… )
-Only teens at this level can go on
overseas missions trips.
Stage 5- “PROJECT TIMOTHY” For teens
with a call to Full-time ministry. (Prerequisite- gone
through stages 1-4 successfully, complete an interview
process) -This will
be a year long commitment.
-Teens in Project Timothy will receive
practical ministry experience.
- This will be almost
like an internship. Teens will have to come in after school
for an hour and a half and will assist Pastor Doug.
- They will be required
to read 1 book/month assigned by Pastor Doug and keep a
reading journal after every chapter.
-Pastor Doug will do everything in his
power to provide ministry resources and insight needed for
these teenagers including books, web-pages, special
speakers, seminars/conferences…
-Students at this level
will also be encouraged and required to teach/preach.
